The client wanted to restore and expand their home that has been in their family for over 80 years. The original home was a working farm and this was to remain an active part of the new plans. We wanted to maintain the original character of the home, and update the interiors and add an additional 1,000 sf while maintaining the same detailing character of the original home. The additional square footage was needed for the extended family who visit on a regular basis. In addition these areas needed to be closed off when guests were not present.
The interior was essentially gutted and rebuilt. The orientation was originally toward the orchards. We reoriented the interior toward the river and opened up the floor plan to allow more light and air into the home. Patios and formal outdoor spaces were designed and added for a more direct connection to the exterior and the river beyond.
